About me

Hi, I’m Astrid. I live in my favourite city Frankfurt am Main in Germany. Growing up in the beautiful Emsland, north of Germany close to the Dutch border, my childhood was strongly influenced by nature. I’m a family person and was always open-minded and from a very early stage, fascinated by other cultures. I always wanted to explore and experience the world with my own eyes. Before I became a correspondent for foreign languages - a commercial training with focus on foreign languages - I worked in London and Paris for the duration of six months each. In these eclectic international cities I met wonderful people of many different walks of life and cultural backgrounds. It was a great time of my life!

After completing my commercial training I moved to Cologne and began my professional career in an international company in sales: An exciting chapter with many new experiences and impressions. Three years later, I packed my backpack and spent one year travelling through Asia and Australia with two of my best friends. An unforgettable time I dived with sharks and turtles on the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia, learned how to make Sushi from a South Korean woman and worked in a Fudge Shop in Sydney. We drove through unspoiled Cambodian landscape, crossed Vietnamese border on foot, lived in a huge flat sharing community with people from all over the world and met Aborigines in the Outback Australia. My year off backpacking was a very special experience.

Afterwards I was for two years in Granada Spain and worked in logistics. The fascinating Andalusia with its Moorish heritage and the wonderful people has touched me very much and I still feel a deep attachment.

After returning to Germany I have worked in international environments in the area of sales/E-business. Currently, I’m expanding my training by studying journalism.

What touches me most are always the people coming together despite different cultural backgrounds and the friendships born from that. ♡
